SECTION 1: PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
================================================================================

Before installing any strategy, verify the following:

1.1 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
[ ] Trading platform installed and updated to the latest version
[ ] Stable internet connection (minimum 10 Mbps recommended)
     [ ] Sufficient system resources:
         - CPU: Dual-core minimum, quad-core recommended
         - RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended (more for multiple charts)
         - Storage: 10 GB free space (for historical data and logs)
         - Display: 1920x1080 minimum for comfortable monitoring
[ ] System clock synchronized (critical for time-based strategies)
[ ] Antivirus configured to exclude the trading platform directory
(false positives can block strategy execution)
[ ] Power supply: UPS recommended for desktop setups

1.2 BROKER ACCOUNT PREPARATION
[ ] Demo account created and funded with virtual capital
[ ] Verify your broker supports the instruments traded by the strategy
     [ ] Check the broker's execution model:
         - ECN/STP: Better for scalping and high-frequency strategies
         - Market Maker: May have wider spreads and requotes
         - Hybrid: Varies by account type
[ ] Verify leverage settings match your risk tolerance
[ ] Check the broker's symbol naming convention:
         - EURUSD vs EURUSDm vs EURUSDx vs EURUSD.r vs EURUSD.i
         - Different suffixes = different symbol names in code
[ ] Confirm the broker allows automated trading (some prohibit EAs)
     [ ] Note the broker's server time zone (UTC, UTC+2, UTC+3, etc.)
[ ] Check minimum lot size (0.01 standard lots = 1 micro lot)
[ ] Verify the broker's stop level (minimum SL/TP distance in points)

1.3 STRATEGY FILE VERIFICATION
[ ] Files downloaded directly from BoTrade.ai (not from third parties)
[ ] All expected files present (source code, presets, documentation)
[ ] File extensions match the expected platform format
[ ] Read the strategy description and documentation carefully
[ ] Note the recommended parameter settings and their ranges
[ ] Understand which instruments/pairs the strategy is designed for
[ ] Understand the timeframe the strategy operates on

================================================================================
SECTION 2: PLATFORM-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

     5. Verify: A smiley face icon appears in the top-right corner of the
chart. If it's a frowning face, the EA is disabled.

     COMMON MT4 ISSUES:
     - "Not enough money" → Lot size too large for account balance
     - "Trade context is busy" → Another EA or script is placing an order
     - "OrderSend error 130" → Stop loss/take profit too close to price
       (check broker's minimum stop level)
     - "OrderSend error 131" → Invalid lot size (check minimum/step)
     - "OrderSend error 138" → Requote, try again or use slippage setting
     - "EAs not allowed" → Check AutoTrading button and EA properties
     - Smiley face not appearing → Ensure EA is compiled, check for errors
in the Experts tab of the Terminal window (Ctrl+T)

     TRADINGVIEW-SPECIFIC NOTES:
     - TradingView strategies run in the cloud, not on your local machine
     - Backtesting is built-in via the "Strategy Tester" panel
     - TradingView does NOT support automated live trading natively.
       You need a third-party service (e.g., webhook-to-broker bridges
like 3Commas, Altrady, PineConnector, or custom webhook handlers)
     - Pine Script has execution limits — complex strategies may timeout
     - Free accounts have limited indicators per chart (3 indicators)
     - Consider scripts vs strategies: scripts add overlays/indicators,
strategies include backtesting with entry/exit logic

     WEBHOOK SETUP FOR LIVE TRADING:
     1. In the strategy settings, configure your alert conditions
     2. Create an alert: Click the alarm clock icon → Condition → select
        your strategy

Advisors. You must use the desktop application for automated trading.

================================================================================
SECTION 3: DEMO TESTING PROTOCOL (MANDATORY)
================================================================================

*** THIS SECTION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IN THIS ENTIRE GUIDE ***
*** NEVER SKIP DEMO TESTING — IT CAN SAVE YOUR CAPITAL AND YOUR SANITY ***

3.1 WHY DEMO TESTING IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
     (a) Backtests are hypothetical. Demo testing uses real-time market
data with simulated execution — it's the closest thing to live
         trading without financial risk.
     (b) Demo testing reveals real-world issues that backtests cannot:
         - Spread variations during different sessions
         - Slippage behavior on your specific broker
         - Platform-specific execution quirks
         - Symbol naming and parameter compatibility
         - Time zone and market session handling
     (c) Demo testing builds confidence and familiarity with the strategy.
     (d) Demo testing reveals your own psychological reactions to the
strategy's behavior (drawdowns, losing streaks, etc.).

3.2 MINIMUM DEMO TESTING PERIOD
     (a) ABSOLUTE MINIMUM: 4 weeks (one full market cycle)
     (b) RECOMMENDED: 8-12 weeks (covers multiple market conditions)
     (c) IDEAL: 3-6 months (captures seasonal variations)
     (d) For strategies with low trade frequency (1-5 trades/month):
         Extend to 6-12 months

3.3 DEMO TESTING CHECKLIST
[ ] Strategy installed and attached to correct chart
[ ] Correct symbol and timeframe selected
[ ] Parameters configured (default or recommended settings)
[ ] Lot size set appropriately for demo account balance
[ ] Spread type verified (fixed vs. variable, your broker's actual)
     [ ] AutoTrading / Algo Trading enabled
[ ] Strategy shows active status (smiley face, green light, etc.)
[ ] First trade executed — verify entry logic matches expectations
[ ] Stop loss and take profit placed correctly
[ ] Trade journal started — record every trade

3.4 WHAT TO MONITOR DURING DEMO TESTING
Record and evaluate the following metrics:

     (a) TOTAL TRADES: How many trades opened during the test period?
         Compare to backtest trade frequency.
     (b) WIN RATE: Percentage of winning trades vs. losing trades.
         Compare to backtest win rate.
     (c) PROFIT FACTOR: Gross profit ÷ Gross loss.
         - Below 1.0 = losing strategy
         - 1.0-1.3 = marginal (may not survive real-world costs)
         - 1.3-2.0 = good
         - Above 2.0 = excellent (verify it's not over-optimized)
     (d) MAXIMUM DRAWDOWN: The largest peak-to-trough decline.
This is the most critical risk metric. Ask yourself: can I
psychologically handle this drawdown with real money?
     (e) AVERAGE TRADE DURATION: How long are trades held open?
     (f) LARGEST SINGLE LOSS: What's the worst individual trade?
     (g) CONSECUTIVE LOSSES: What's the longest losing streak?
     (h) RISK-REWARD RATIO: Average win / Average loss.
     (i) TRADES PER DAY/WEEK: Is the trade frequency as expected?
     (j) EXECUTION QUALITY: Any missed trades, delayed executions, or
         platform errors?
     (k) SPREAD IMPACT: Are spreads significantly affecting results
         compared to the backtest?

3.5 DEMO TO LIVE DECISION CRITERIA
Proceed to live trading ONLY if ALL of the following are true:
[ ] Demo test period completed (minimum 4 weeks)
     [ ] Overall profit factor above 1.2 (after fees/spread)
[ ] Maximum drawdown is within your acceptable risk tolerance
[ ] No unexplained behavior or errors observed
[ ] Trade frequency matches backtest expectations
[ ] You understand every parameter and what it does
[ ] You have a clear risk management plan
[ ] You are using money you can genuinely afford to lose

================================================================================
SECTION 4: BACKTESTING METHODOLOGY
================================================================================

4.1 HOW TO RUN A PROPER BACKTEST

     MT4/MT5 Strategy Tester:
     1. Open Strategy Tester: View → Strategy Tester (Ctrl+R)
     2. Select your Expert Advisor from the dropdown
     3. Select the correct symbol
     4. Select modeling quality:
        - MT4: "Every tick" for most accurate results
("Control points" and "Open prices only" are faster but less
accurate — only use for initial screening)
        - MT5: "Every tick based on real ticks" (most accurate)
Or "Every tick" with modeled ticks
     5. Set the date range:
        - Minimum 2-5 years of data for meaningful results
        - Include different market regimes (bull, bear, range)
        - Include at least one major crisis period (2020 COVID, etc.)
     6. Set the initial deposit and leverage (match your real conditions)
     7. Load preset parameters (or configure manually in Expert Properties)
     8. Click Start

     QUALITY CHECKLIST:
     [ ] Modeling quality above 99% (MT4) or tick data used (MT5)
[ ] "Mismatched charts errors" = 0 in the Journal tab
[ ] Sufficient historical data for the test period
[ ] Spread set to "Current" or a realistic fixed value

4.2 UNDERSTANDING BACKTEST RESULTS

     Key metrics to evaluate:

     (a) NET PROFIT: Total profit minus total loss. The bottom line.
     (b) PROFIT FACTOR: Gross profit ÷ Gross loss.
     (c) EXPECTED PAYOFF: Average profit per trade (net).
     (d) MAXIMAL DRAWDOWN: Largest peak-to-trough equity decline.
This is what you should prepare for in live trading.
In reality, live drawdowns often exceed backtest drawdowns by
30-50% due to slippage, spread widening, and market conditions
         not present in historical data.
     (e) RECOVERY FACTOR: Net profit ÷ Max drawdown.
Higher is better. Above 3.0 is good. Above 5.0 is excellent.
     (f) SHARPE RATIO: Risk-adjusted return measure.
Above 1.0 is acceptable. Above 2.0 is good. Above 3.0 is
excellent. Extremely high values (>5) may indicate over-fitting.
     (g) TOTAL TRADES: More trades = more statistically significant.
Minimum 200+ trades for meaningful statistical analysis.
         Under 50 trades is unreliable.

4.3 BACKTEST LIMITATIONS — WHAT YOU CANNOT TRUST
     (a) Exact dollar amounts — real-world costs will differ
     (b) Win rate accuracy — slippage and spread affect close calls
     (c) Maximum drawdown — live will likely be worse
     (d) Trade-for-trade replication — real execution differs
     (e) Results from data outside your broker's data feed

4.4 WALK-FORWARD ANALYSIS (ADVANCED)
     To reduce over-fitting risk:
     1. Divide historical data into in-sample (IS) and out-of-sample (OOS)
        periods (e.g., 70% IS / 30% OOS)
     2. Optimize on IS data → record best parameters
     3. Test those parameters on OOS data — unoptimized OOS profit should
be at least 50% of IS profit for the strategy to be considered robust
     4. Repeat with rolling windows

================================================================================
SECTION 5: RISK MANAGEMENT & POSITION SIZING
================================================================================

5.1 THE 1-2% RULE (GOLDEN RULE OF TRADING)
Never risk more than 1-2% of your total account balance on a single
trade. This is the single most important risk management principle.

     CALCULATION:
     Account Balance: $10,000
     Risk per trade: 1% = $100
     Stop Loss: 50 pips
Pip value at 1 standard lot (EURUSD): $10/pip
     Maximum lot size: $100 ÷ (50 × $10) = 0.20 lots

     ADJUSTMENT for different account sizes:
     - $1,000 account at 1% risk, 50 pip SL: 0.02 lots (2 micro lots)
     - $5,000 account at 1% risk, 50 pip SL: 0.10 lots (1 mini lot)
     - $25,000 account at 1% risk, 50 pip SL: 0.50 lots (5 mini lots)
     - $100,000 account at 1% risk, 50 pip SL: 2.00 lots (2 standard lots)

5.2 MAXIMUM OPEN RISK
Total risk across all open positions should not exceed 5-6% of your
     account balance. For example:
     - 3 concurrent trades at 2% risk each = 6% total risk exposure
     - If all 3 hit stop loss simultaneously, you lose 6% (recoverable)
     - Compare: 3 trades at 10% risk = 30% potential loss (devastating)

5.3 CORRELATION AWARENESS
If running multiple strategies or trading correlated pairs:
     - EUR/USD and GBP/USD are highly correlated (both vs USD)
     - A long EURUSD + long GBPUSD doubles your USD short exposure
     - Gold and USD are inversely correlated
     - Crypto assets tend to be highly correlated with Bitcoin
     - During market stress, almost everything becomes correlated

5.4 POSITION SIZING METHODS
     (a) FIXED LOT: Same lot size every trade. Simple but doesn't adapt
         to account growth or decline.
     (b) FIXED PERCENTAGE: Risk a fixed % of current equity. Positions
grow with winners, shrink with losers. Recommended.
     (c) FIXED RATIO: Increases position size at specific equity
milestones. Good for aggressive growth phases.
     (d) KELLY CRITERION: Optimal bet sizing based on win rate and
risk-reward ratio. Mathematically optimal but aggressive —
use "half Kelly" or "quarter Kelly" in practice.

5.5 WHAT TO AVOID
     - MARTINGALE: Doubling lot sizes after losses. Appears safe until
it causes complete account wipeout in a sustained trend.
     - NO STOP LOSS: Running without stop losses exposes you to
unlimited risk. Even grid strategies should have a maximum
       drawdown cutoff.
     - OVER-LEVERAGING: Using maximum available leverage. Just because
your broker offers 1:500 doesn't mean you should use it.
     - EMOTIONAL SIZING: Increasing lots after losses to "get back"
or after wins due to overconfidence.

================================================================================
SECTION 6: TRANSITIONING TO LIVE TRADING
================================================================================

6.1 GRADUATED APPROACH (RECOMMENDED)
Do NOT go from demo to full live trading in one step:

STEP 1: DEMO ACCOUNT (4-12 weeks)
→ Test with virtual money, no financial risk
→ Validate strategy behavior and your comfort level

STEP 2: MICRO LIVE ACCOUNT (4-8 weeks)
→ Trade with the MINIMUM lot size (0.01 lots or micro lots)
→ Real money, real emotions, minimal financial exposure
→ Total capital at risk: $100-$500

STEP 3: SMALL LIVE ACCOUNT (4-8 weeks)
→ Increase to small but meaningful position sizes
     → Capital: $1,000-$5,000
→ Continue monitoring all metrics from demo phase

STEP 4: FULL LIVE ACCOUNT (ongoing)
→ Scale to your intended position sizes
→ Only if Steps 1-3 show consistently positive results
→ Maintain strict risk management at all times

6.2 FIRST WEEK OF LIVE TRADING
     (a) Use the absolute minimum lot size
     (b) Keep a trade journal — record every trade with notes
     (c) DO NOT change parameters during the first week
     (d) Monitor execution quality vs. demo results
     (e) Watch for emotional reactions you didn't feel during demo
     (f) If the first week causes significant stress or unexpected
         losses, return to demo testing

6.3 SCALING UP
     (a) Only increase position sizes after 4+ consecutive profitable
weeks (or the equivalent number of trades)
     (b) Increase by 50% maximum at each step, not 200-500%
     (c) Keep detailed records of performance at each scale level
     (d) If drawdown exceeds backtest maximum, reduce size or pause

================================================================================
SECTION 7: VPS SETUP & CONFIGURATION
================================================================================

7.1 WHY USE A VPS (VIRTUAL PRIVATE SERVER)
     (a) 24/7 UPTIME: Your strategy runs continuously, even when your
personal computer is off, sleeping, or restarting.
     (b) LOW LATENCY: VPS located near your broker's servers reduces
execution latency (critical for scalping strategies).
     (c) STABILITY: Enterprise-grade infrastructure with redundant power,
         networking, and hardware.
     (d) INDEPENDENCE: Not affected by your home internet outages, power
         cuts, or computer issues.

7.2 VPS REQUIREMENTS FOR TRADING
     Minimum Specifications:
     - CPU: 1-2 vCPU cores (2-4 vCPU for multiple strategies)
     - RAM: 2 GB minimum (4 GB for MT4/MT5 with multiple charts)
     - Storage: 40 GB SSD (60+ GB if storing tick data)
     - OS: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 (for MT4/MT5)
           Linux (for Python-based strategies)
     - Network: 100 Mbps minimum, low-latency route to broker

     Recommended VPS Providers (not endorsements):
     - ForexVPS / BeeksFX / TradingFXVPS (trading-specialized)
     - Amazon AWS / Google Cloud / Microsoft Azure (general cloud)

     (c) Enable Network Level Authentication (NLA)
     (d) Keep OS and software updated with security patches
     (e) Install only necessary software — minimize attack surface
     (f) Restrict RDP access to your IP address(es) if possible
     (g) Consider VPN access instead of direct RDP exposure
     (h) Disable unnecessary Windows services
     (i) Enable Windows Defender or install reputable antivirus
     (j) Set up automated backups of the VPS

================================================================================
SECTION 8: ONGOING MONITORING & MAINTENANCE
================================================================================

8.1 DAILY MONITORING CHECKLIST
[ ] Strategy is active and running (no crashes, no disconnections)
[ ] Platform is connected to broker server
[ ] Check for any new trades — review entry logic
[ ] Check for any error messages in the platform's journal/log
[ ] Verify internet connectivity on VPS
[ ] Check free disk space (logs and data accumulate)
[ ] Review current open positions and their P/L

8.2 WEEKLY MONITORING CHECKLIST
[ ] Review weekly P/L and compare to backtest expectations
[ ] Review win rate, profit factor, and drawdown metrics
[ ] Check for any platform or strategy updates
[ ] Verify swap/rollover charges are as expected
[ ] Review news calendar for upcoming high-impact events
[ ] Back up strategy settings and configuration files

8.3 MONTHLY MONITORING CHECKLIST
[ ] Comprehensive performance review against benchmarks
[ ] Compare live results to backtest results — flag deviations
[ ] Review maximum drawdown — is it within acceptable limits?
[ ] Evaluate whether the strategy is underperforming significantly
[ ] Review VPS performance and resource utilization
[ ] Update OS and platform if security patches are available
[ ] Review and archive log files
[ ] Re-evaluate risk parameters based on recent performance

8.4 WHEN TO STOP OR PAUSE A STRATEGY
     Consider pausing a strategy if:
     (a) Live drawdown exceeds backtest maximum drawdown by 50%+
     (b) Strategy has been losing for 3+ months consecutively
     (c) Market regime has clearly shifted (e.g., trending market becomes
ranging, or volatility regime changes dramatically)
     (d) You discover a bug or error in the strategy
     (e) Your broker changes execution conditions significantly
     (f) You are experiencing emotional distress from trading losses
     (g) The strategy's edge appears to have degraded permanently

     When pausing:
     1. Close all open positions manually or wait for the strategy to close
     2. Disable AutoTrading / stop the algorithm
     3. Record the reason for pausing
     4. Return to demo testing to evaluate before restarting

================================================================================
SECTION 9: COMMON ISSUES & TROUBLESHOOTING
================================================================================

9.1 STRATEGY NOT TRADING (NO TRADES OPENING)
     Possible causes:
     (a) AutoTrading / Algo Trading is disabled → Enable it
     (b) The EA is not attached to a chart → Reattach
     (c) Wrong symbol or timeframe → Verify chart matches strategy specs
     (d) Insufficient margin → Check free margin
     (e) Trading is disabled in EA properties → Check "Allow live trading"
     (f) Market is closed (weekend, holiday) → Wait for market open
     (g) Strategy conditions not met → Market may not match entry criteria
     (h) Symbol name mismatch → Check broker's symbol naming
     (i) DLL imports blocked → Enable in EA settings if required
     (j) Compilation error → Check Experts tab for error messages

9.2 TRADES NOT PLACING STOP LOSS / TAKE PROFIT
     Possible causes:
     (a) Broker's minimum stop level → SL/TP too close to entry price.
Check broker specs: "Stop Level" in symbol properties
     (b) ECN account → Some ECN accounts require SL/TP to be sent as a
separate order modification after the entry fills
     (c) Strategy sends SL/TP in wrong format → Points vs pips mismatch

9.3 DIFFERENT RESULTS ON DIFFERENT BROKERS
     This is NORMAL and expected:
     (a) Different historical data = different backtest results
     (b) Different spreads = different entry/exit prices
     (c) Different server times = different daily candles
     (d) Different swap rates = different holding costs
     (e) Different execution speeds = different slippage
Solution: Always demo test on your specific broker before going live.

9.4 STRATEGY SLOWING DOWN / HIGH CPU USAGE
     Possible causes:
     (a) Too many charts/strategies running simultaneously
     (b) Memory leak in the strategy (less common) → restart platform
     (c) Insufficient VPS resources → upgrade RAM/CPU
     (d) Historical data loading → wait for completion
     (e) Too many indicators on chart → reduce unnecessary indicators

9.5 "OUT OF MEMORY" ERRORS
     (a) MT4/MT5: Reduce "Max bars in chart" (Tools → Options → Charts)
     (b) Close unused charts
     (c) Restart the platform periodically (weekly)
     (d) Increase VPS RAM

9.6 CONNECTION LOST / RECONNECTION ISSUES
     (a) Check internet connectivity on VPS
     (b) Check broker server status (broker's website/social media)
     (c) Try connecting to a different broker server (if available)
     (d) Restart the trading platform
     (e) Restart the VPS if persistent
     (f) The strategy should handle reconnection automatically —
check if open positions are still managed

================================================================================
SECTION 10: EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
================================================================================

10.1 IF THE STRATEGY PLACES UNEXPECTED OR LARGE ORDERS
     1. IMMEDIATELY disable AutoTrading (click the AutoTrading button)
     2. Review all open positions in the Trade tab
     3. Manually close any positions that shouldn't be open
     4. Check the Journal/Experts tab for error messages
     5. DO NOT re-enable Auto Trading until the issue is understood
     6. If you cannot identify the cause, contact BoTrade.ai support

10.2 IF YOUR VPS BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE
     1. Try connecting via a different RDP client or from a different device
     2. Contact your VPS provider's emergency support
     3. If you can connect, immediately check open positions
     4. If the VPS needs a hard reboot, be aware that open positions will
be unmanaged during the restart period

10.3 IF YOUR BROKER GOES OFFLINE
     1. Check the broker's status page or social media for announcements
     2. If you have positions open, there is nothing you can do until the
        broker restores service
     3. Note the time and document everything for potential claims
     4. DO NOT panic-deposit more money during a broker outage

10.4 IF YOU EXPERIENCE A FLASH CRASH
     1. DO NOT intervene manually during extreme volatility
     2. Manual orders during a flash crash often get filled at the worst
        possible prices
     3. Wait for the market to stabilize (usually minutes to hours)
     4. Review positions after stability returns
     5. Document everything — screenshots, logs, timestamps

10.5 EMERGENCY CONTACTS
Your Broker: [Add your broker's emergency contact here]
VPS Provider: [Add your VPS provider's emergency contact here]
